Punkin Chunkin 2014 – October 18, 2014


OCTOBER 18, 2014, DOWNTOWN CLAYTON NEW YORK Chuck Wagon Punkin Chunkin for Youth The Rotary Club of Clayton and the Clayton Chamber of Commerce sponsoring the Chuck Wagon Punkin Chunkin contest to be held during the 3rd annual Punkin Chunkin festival in Clayton on October 18, 2014. Groups of five or more school age contestants such as Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, church groups, and schools etc. build their own trebuchet type catapult to launch pumpkins into the river. First, second and third place winners will be selected based on the distance they throw their pumpkin times the number of pounds of food they collect for local food banks. The Rotary Club has a model trebuchet that they will gladly demonstrate to any interested group to show they work and to answer questions. It will be exciting for everyone involved, whether they build the launcher, collect food or just cheer for their favorite team.
